Everyone who knows Sarah and what she has been through wants to help. You can’t help it, her story is compelling. But talking to Sarah, she sounds like every other child, except, she is singing Apple Bottom Jeans after having a bone marrow aspiration.
Sarah at 1½ was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. At diagnoses, Sarah began treatment with Steroids and anti-inflammatory medications. Sarah has also taken Methotrexate, Remicade, Enbrel, Kinneret, Cytoxan (chemotherapy) infusion, Methotrexate Injections, Methadone Pills and cortisone injections. For many years, Sarah has taken these medications to help ease her pain.
Recently, Sarah was diagnosed with stage II level of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Sarah is currently undergoing chemotherapy and handling it like a trooper!
After treatment for the cancer, treatments for her Arthritis is unknown as it is believed the medications for treating the Arthritis is what caused the cancer. This will be Sarah’s next hurdle.
Through all of her painful treatments, Sarah has been the rock, while her family and friends are trying to hold themselves together. Her smile offers strength to those of us who complain about our every day life--our dark day is not like the every rainy day her family goes through--but Sarah only sees sunshine!
With much love,
